This Community Helpers Sentence Writing Intervention Includes:
- 100 Writing Prompts: 20 occupations x 5 prompts for each one
- 3 Levels of Scaffolding for every prompt
- Occupations: baker, bus driver, construction worker, custodian, dentist, doctor, farmer, firefighter, grocery store worker, librarian, lifeguard, mail carrier, nurse, paramedic, police officer, restaurant server, soldier, teacher, trash collector, veterinarian
- Word banks: Prevent “I don’t know what to write.” Support vocabulary development and spelling.
- Editing checklist: Check for correct capitalization, punctuation, spacing, and spelling.
- Handwriting lines: Improves penmanship, encouraging correct letter size and spacing.
- Picture (drawing) box: Space to illustrate each sentence. Encourages creativity and more fine-motor practice.
A Note for Special Education Teachers and Parents:
If you have an older student writing at a kindergarten or 1st grade level, the prompts in this workbook are appropriate for any age!
Background:
When my school adopted Writing Workshop, my special education students were overwhelmed. They needed lots of support to reduce their cognitive load and break tasks down into manageable steps. I spent many hours adapting writing tasks to their individual levels. My students stopped avoiding writing and started to feel successful and confident. In fact, general ed teachers noticed and asked to use my resources with their struggling students, too. I’m happy to share my work with you in the hopes it will lighten your workload and make writing time more enjoyable and stress-free for everyone.
I strive for 5 stars. If something is amiss, please email me before leaving a review. I'll do my best to make it right.
I appreciate your support and feedback!
